A local research company was recently employed by optical manufacturer On:Spec to justify
its claims with regard to prices. The research targeted spring-sided frames which included single vision, bi-focal and vari-focal lenses.
Mystery shoppers were sent to major High Street opticians, as well as On:Spec themselves.
These included Specsavers (Hexham and Newcastle), Dollond & Aitchison (Newcastle and MetroCentre),
Vision Express (Newcastle and MetroCentre), Boots Opticians (Newcastle and MetroCentre) and On:Spec (Kingston Park).
The table below shows the findings of this independent survey (completed in April 2008).
